of fiveat a local microd track called
Southern Tier Microd Club. Here he would show his abilities by
winning 30+ races within only a few years. Quickly, Matt moved
through the ranks and would find himself driving a full size
Ford Mustang at the age of 11.
Within the next three
years, Matt could be found in victory lane over 20 times
in his Ford Mustang along with climbing into a Legends
car at age 14. Matt’s success did not stop here, he
had quickly become a leader in the Legends series at
local tracks and quickly moved into a NASCAR Whelen
Modified on the road to success. Between 2007-2008, Matt
racked up over 15 combined victories in Legends and
Modifieds.
At the age of 17, Matt
made a large step in his driving career when he stepped
into an ARCA/ReMax car in Toledo, Ohio in the series
final race of the 2008 season. Driving a car that was
less than perfect, Matt successfully proved his talents
of being a driver at that level. This has lead to this
upcoming season’s decision to run full time in the
NASCAR Camping World East Series. Tentative plans also
include select races in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour,
Race of Champions Modified Series and NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series.
Away from the race
track, Matt plays for his high school hockey team, the
Notre Dame Crusaders along with the Elmira Junior
Jackals. The Junior Jackals are part of one of the most
prestigious junior hockey leagues, The Empire Hockey
League. Matt began playing hockey the same year that he
started racing.
Matt’s entire family:
mother Kim, father Dan, and sister Taylor have supported
Matt throughout his racing career. As Matt continues to
climb the ladder and compete at a higher level, other
people have come on board and are supporting Matt in his
upcoming challenge.
Matt’s biggest
challenge lies ahead of him as he plans to be both a
full-time racecar driver and college student.
